To go to war is to engage in a fight with another Nation. Many view war as being an appropriate action that can only solve problems. Others believe that war is a violent action that leads to nothing but casualties. In the article, â€Å"Regarding the Torture of Others† Susan Sontag writes about the torture soldiers are inflicting on prisoners. Some torture was done so brutally that the some of the soldiers deem that acts as correct and in the process seem to try to dehumanize the victims. The bush administration considered torture as being mistreatment not evil. The Blog â€Å"Military Blog† by Zachary Scott-Singley deals with the day by day life and thoughts of a solider at war. The family like many others was forced out of where they lived but still the pri de of the people shined even in such a terrible time. The mom was confident saying â€Å"we would be back soon anyway, our troops would recover Enugu.† (Adiche 983) The mom believed that the war was going to go their way, something that did not happen as the story progressed. The picture of the disaster that was going around them did not change their emotions and reasons of the war until they were personally struck. Obi a young intelligent kid became ill and no matter how much the family did the days looked to be short for Obi. On the days following Obi death the families opinion emotions on the war changed after all the things they went through they finally realized that the â€Å"war is lost.†(Adiche 990) In the case of this family the picture of war was clear, they were forced to play the role of survivalist. The war had depleted their food source and made people get sick. The war was causing devastation and when the war finally hit home the family realize that the war was not the best idea and that the hopes they had throughout the story had no means to help them. The misery of the picture of war changed the life of this family.
